Unscheduled Hair Cut

Apparantly the Kidlet's hair wasn't cut short enough for him. He took scissors to his hair and butchered it in an attempt to cut it shorter.

I've already shed my tears. I know, I know, every kid does it, ha ha it's so funny. Even I cut my bangs the day before my first day of Kindergarten. However I did not find this at all funny. I was devastated as I'm sure my own mother was. I have been wanting the boys to have their professional pictures taken since like.. forever. We finally had the money to do it and due to scratches on the face of each kid, we put it off for 2 weeks. This past Monday was the day we were supposed to go. He cut his hair on Sunday.

It had to be completely buzzed off. His head is shaved. He looks like one of those little shaolin monks on the show Kung Fu or like he's been sick for a very long time. I know it will grow back but needless to say, it will be months before it is anywhere to where I would have his pictures taken.

Call me vain or mean but I wanted their pictures to look nice and this just doesn't do it for me. Maybe I'll laugh about it when he's older but right now... I can't.

Happy 6th Birthday, Kidlet!

I can't believe that you are 6 years old. Wow, how time flies by when your heart becomes a walking, living, breathing boy and begins growing up.

You are my heart. You are such a wonderful little boy. You have a kind nature and a big heart. You have become such a wonderful big brother and I'm just amazed at how your mind works. You make your Daddy and I laugh with your quick quips and funny sayings.

This year has flown by. I feel that you are like a real boy now! Not that you never were to begin with but the first five years of your life, you were still young in my eyes. Now you are 6 and school age and really, truly belonging to the world around you. I can't wait to see what mark you are going to leave on it. Knowing you it is going to be big and fun for everyone around you.

We've just started your second year at school and nothing has brought back memories of my own elementary days back as watching you. I remember the smells of the cafeteria, the vibrant colors of all the class room decorations, even down to my own name card on my desk. It doesn't seem like it was that long ago for me and I wonder if it will feel the same for you when you become my age. Will this time right now seem not that far away? What will be your school memories? I hope and pray that your school years are full and happy.

You have made mine and your Daddy's life so full and rich. We would not be the people we are today without you. We can not imagine our lives without you and I don't know how there ever was a time that I didn't know you. Thank you for being the beautiful boy you are.

We love you!

It's here

It's started again. With just 3 days of school, the Kidlet has caught a cold. He was sneezing this morning, sniffling and his voice was a little hoarse.

Just 3 days of school and already he's sick.

Oh god, I don't think I can handle the next 177 days of illness. Please don't let this be anything like last year.

Second haircut

The Kidlet just got his first haircut 2 and a half months ago. As you can see by the previous post.... his hair grows fast! Even though I knew it was long, I was just so amazed by the amount of hair coming off. It seemed like it would never stop.

He didn't do too well with the barber. I had to stand there and hold a small sucker in his mouth. Anything to get him to be still right? I hate that he's had so much sugar on his new teeth already but what could I do? He drooled all over the smock too. Heh.

In the end (About 10-15 minutes), his hair was gone and a real boy emerged. I can't get over it. Of course, I think that every time.

What happened to my hair?!?

The Kidlet got his hair cut too and just in time for school! Doesn't he look snazzy? (Ignore my pile of unfolded laundry on the couch)
