Unscheduled Hair Cut

Apparantly the Kidlet's hair wasn't cut short enough for him. He took scissors to his hair and butchered it in an attempt to cut it shorter.

I've already shed my tears. I know, I know, every kid does it, ha ha it's so funny. Even I cut my bangs the day before my first day of Kindergarten. However I did not find this at all funny. I was devastated as I'm sure my own mother was. I have been wanting the boys to have their professional pictures taken since like.. forever. We finally had the money to do it and due to scratches on the face of each kid, we put it off for 2 weeks. This past Monday was the day we were supposed to go. He cut his hair on Sunday.

It had to be completely buzzed off. His head is shaved. He looks like one of those little shaolin monks on the show Kung Fu or like he's been sick for a very long time. I know it will grow back but needless to say, it will be months before it is anywhere to where I would have his pictures taken.

Call me vain or mean but I wanted their pictures to look nice and this just doesn't do it for me. Maybe I'll laugh about it when he's older but right now... I can't.

Happy 6th Birthday, Kidlet!

I can't believe that you are 6 years old. Wow, how time flies by when your heart becomes a walking, living, breathing boy and begins growing up.

You are my heart. You are such a wonderful little boy. You have a kind nature and a big heart. You have become such a wonderful big brother and I'm just amazed at how your mind works. You make your Daddy and I laugh with your quick quips and funny sayings.

This year has flown by. I feel that you are like a real boy now! Not that you never were to begin with but the first five years of your life, you were still young in my eyes. Now you are 6 and school age and really, truly belonging to the world around you. I can't wait to see what mark you are going to leave on it. Knowing you it is going to be big and fun for everyone around you.

We've just started your second year at school and nothing has brought back memories of my own elementary days back as watching you. I remember the smells of the cafeteria, the vibrant colors of all the class room decorations, even down to my own name card on my desk. It doesn't seem like it was that long ago for me and I wonder if it will feel the same for you when you become my age. Will this time right now seem not that far away? What will be your school memories? I hope and pray that your school years are full and happy.

You have made mine and your Daddy's life so full and rich. We would not be the people we are today without you. We can not imagine our lives without you and I don't know how there ever was a time that I didn't know you. Thank you for being the beautiful boy you are.

We love you!

It's here

It's started again. With just 3 days of school, the Kidlet has caught a cold. He was sneezing this morning, sniffling and his voice was a little hoarse.

Just 3 days of school and already he's sick.

Oh god, I don't think I can handle the next 177 days of illness. Please don't let this be anything like last year.

Second haircut

The Kidlet just got his first haircut 2 and a half months ago. As you can see by the previous post.... his hair grows fast! Even though I knew it was long, I was just so amazed by the amount of hair coming off. It seemed like it would never stop.

He didn't do too well with the barber. I had to stand there and hold a small sucker in his mouth. Anything to get him to be still right? I hate that he's had so much sugar on his new teeth already but what could I do? He drooled all over the smock too. Heh.

In the end (About 10-15 minutes), his hair was gone and a real boy emerged. I can't get over it. Of course, I think that every time.

Belated Birthday for the Wee One

© 2005 MaiaRayne. All rights reserved.

This is a new outfit that the Wee One got for his very belated birthday party we had for him yesterday. He scored 14 more outfits that are equally adorable.

So yesterday afternoon we had a small, little tiny birthday celebration for the Wee One's first birthday. Yes, his birthday was like 4 months ago but who cares? I wanted pictures for the baby book! I also wanted to have an excuse to eat cake. Not like I need one but that's another journal...

We went over to the SIL's house and Gramma joined us. We had much good food and merriment. Fun was had by all. My baby isn't a baby anymore! I drug it out for 4 months but.... babies don't keep do they. They grow up and hopefully won't become camera shy like the Kidlet seems to have grown... He won't let me take his picture!

The Wee One has been bottle free for nearly 2 weeks. It seems as though the babies I know his age have been off for a very long time but I just.... didn't cut him off. His ped said he should be down to 1 bottle a day at 12 mo. Ha! Oh well. He's off now. Figures 2 days later he had a high fever and cut a molar. I wanted to comfort him with the bottle but I knew it would only be cruel to take it away from him, give it back and take it away again. So I stuck to my guns and we both got over the rough patch of about 4-5 days of all afternoon crying.

When he was still drinking a bottle, he'd go down for his nap (he falls asleep in his infant carrier and will not sleep in his crib if it is daylight) with a bottle. Now that he doesn't have one and he's over crying for it, he comes to me and climbs up into my lap and lays his head on me and is out within 5 minutes when he's finally tired. Usually around 3 p.m. I absolutely love this. He is always on the go and for him to just let me hold him and him sleep in my arms like he did when he was a baby is so much fun for me.

He usually goes down at 9:30 on the dot but yesterday since we were at the in-laws he didn't get to bed til midnight. On top of that he missed his nap (he takes 1 a day now) and he was still in such a good mood! I could not believe it.

The Kidlet is possibly going to go on a cruise with his Aunt and Uncle. Can you say jealous?? They already have their tickets but at the last minute decided they wanted to take him so they are trying to find out if he can go. I keep telling him he probably can't but how do you undo him getting his hopes up? You can't. I really hope he can go. I'm envious but I hope he can go!

Ok time to make dinner. The little mook keeps calling me from the fridge. As if the fridge doesn't call to me enough..... hehe.

How Are They?

Well, I haven't posted in so long about the boys. I can't tell you why really other than it just sort of meets the bottom of the priority list. Usually all things boys are right there at the top. I guess when it comes to the journal though, Mama just has to put herself first sometimes.

I admire those that can update their journals everyday with something new and exciting about what is going on with thier kid(s). I'm just not one of those people. Are there new things everyday? Sure there are! I'm just too busy or too tired to remember what they are. Rather ironic don't you think as this journal is ment to be a preservation of their baby/childhood so that I won't forget.

The Kidlet- Well he's about to turn six years old in Aug. and he's a boy on a mission. He checks his teeth every 10 minutes or so to make sure that he does not miss out on a loose tooth. He is determined to catch it the second it becomes loose. I feel bad for the kid because it is only going to take one time of pulling a loose tooth to make him realize that finding one might not be the pot of gold at the end of his rainbow. And considering that the tooth fairy in these parts doesn't believe in cold soft paper cash, I hope he can settle for two coins to rub between his fingers. The tooth fairy doesn't count for a cost of living raise.

He's handling being out of school fairly well. He gets rather bored though. I didn't want him to watch t.v. and play play station games all summer long and he's done well not to. We've been trying to keep up doing projects like working out of the workbook that his school sent home with him but lately, with my lack of sleep, the choice to what he wants to do is all his. You can well imagine that my playstation has been running for quite a few hours during the day the last week or so.

The biggest talk around the house with him is his birthday in Aug. He wants to visit Chuck E. Cheese so badly. I hope we'll have the money to take him. The girl that lives upstairs works there and she said she'd give us a good deal if we drove pretty far out to the one she works at. It's worth a try!

The Wee One- Well he's going to be 16 months old on July 6th and I can not believe it. He's walking just fine and babbling a mile a minute. He tries so hard to talk. He just babbles like he knows exactly what he's saying. He just got his 3rd and 4th tooth on the top this month and he's breaking a 3rd tooth on the bottom. He had 2 teeth on top and 2 on the bottom since January. I thought this kid was never going to get his teeth in!

Sadly, he's still on the bottle. We (and when I say we, I'm sure you can deduce I mean me) nursed him for almost a year and then went to bottles when I had my gall bladder surgery. He is so attached to them. More so than his brother ever was. I think we're just going to have to go cold turkey and soon.

He's probably weighing about 23 lbs now so yay for the Wee One!! It was pretty slim there for a while. With him being constantly sick, he didn't thrive as fast as I think he might have. He's still a heavy, stocky little thing but he did get down into the 5%. He's caught up now, I'm sure. He's heavy! He's in size 18 month clothes and for the most party they fit only slightly loose.

His new thing is to shake his head no when he babbles. He also every once in a great while will "sing". HE plays peek a boo sometimes if he has some sort of clothing or blanket in his hand, he likes patty cake for about 10 minutes and he is down to one 1-2 hour nap a day. He goes to bed at 9:30 and without the risk of jinxing myself, I put him in his crib, cover him up and shut the door. I usually don't hear him after that unless he wakes up in the middle of the night and even then 8 times out of 10 he talks to himself and goes back to sleep. *knock on wood*

The best thing about the boys is that they are NOT sick!! Yes! They have been well for a few weeks now. I'm soooo happy.

More pictures later and how they are adjusting to Daddy's new schedule...

Updated Layout

Well for those of you who check up on the boys, you'll see that there is a new layout. I'm completely not happy with it. Doesn't it just scream plain to you? It's just soooo simple. The Logo Graphic came out cute but how could it not with subjects as cute as them?? My thinking exactly.

It's just so white and colorless.... I'm going to have to find some sort of background other than the side bar over there ----->

I've been up all night, it is now 9 a.m. and the Wee One is awake. Insomnia is not a Mother's friend.

Growing babes!

My babies are growing up! I can't believe how big they have gotten. I know it has been a while since I have updated but nothing has been going on with the boys other than they have gotten over colds and coughs and gotten them really only have a week or so of feeling better. I know you all must be sick of hearing about their constant sickness but there it is. That's all that has been going on.

For those of you who don't know (Sorry Stacy, I lost your email!!) The Wee One was weaned from the breast at 10 months old. I weaned him the month of December and by January he was bottle only. He's now off formula and taking milk. No I haven't started to wean him off the bottle yet. He hates sippies but I'm sure one of these weeks I'm going to get fed up and box up all the bottles and he'll either have to take a sippy or starve. Sounds harsh!! I hate weaning from the bottle. I didn't seem like a big deal with the Kidlet except for a bottle in the crib at bedtime. The Wee One doesn't have that problem! So I don't know why it feels so much harder this time. I was looking at a baby/parenting magazine today and it had soo many breast feeding adverts in it. It made me miss that time with the baby. I'm glad he's off the breast now too though. There are always pros and cons!

I have soooooo many pictures to show you because.... Wee One got his first hair cut!! I'm sobbing. His long locks are gone and boy were they long. Leave it to me to forget to take pictures of him in the barber chair. Not that I could of anyway with the way he was clinging to me. That boy does not like him some strangers! I didn't get any right "before" pics. Figures. I did get some locks of his hair for his baby book!

I didn't get as many of the Kidlet because he didn't want his picture taken. Strange. He's usually such a ham. I guess it has to do with the fact that he seems to like running around naked now. He takes off his clothes first chance he gets. He's never been like that as a toddler so I don't know why the behavior now. Normally, thankfully, he runs around in underware. I don't care really when he's just at home.

Ok there's tons of pics, sorry for the slow load time!
